Bylaws for the AHSCC

 ARTICLE I - Name

The name of this organization shall be the Alpine High School Citizens Committee.

ARTICLE II - Objectives

The purpose of the AHSCC shall be to achieve an exemplary High School for the students and community of Alpine in the fastest, most economical and effective means possible.  This school should embody the spirit and values of the Alpine community while being dedicated to academic excellence and cultural diversity.

ARTICLE III - Membership

Membership is open to anyone interested in establishing a High School in the Alpine area.  Officers must be residents in the Alpine Union School District boundary and attended at least six (6) meetings in a preceeding twelve (12) month period.

ARTICLE IV - Administration

Section 1 - Officers

        a. The officers of the AHSCC shall be Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary And Treasurer.

        b. Officers shall assume office immediately following election and shall serve a term of one year or until a successor is elected.

        c. The officers of the AHSCC shall perform those duties usually attached to their offices.

        d. Any officer may be removed from office by discretion of the board after missing  3 (unexcused) consecutive monthly meetings.

        e. Any officer may be removed by simple majority of elgible members present.

Section 2 - Elections

        a. Nominations may be made from the floor and seconded at the regular monthly meeting held in January by members present. The nominee with the highest number of votes of members present shall be elected.

 Section 3 - Executive Committee

        a. The elected officers shall constitute the executive committee and shall administer the business of the unit when it is not in session.

        b. The executive committee shall meet in conjunction with regular monthly meetings and may hold other meetings as may be deemed neccessary by the Chair or a majority of the executive committee. The executive committee must notify membership of any meeting and report minutes of that meeting at the next regular monthly meeting following.

Section 4. - Vacancies

        a. If a vacancy occurs in the office of the chair , the 1st Vice Chair shall become Chair for the remainder of that term and also serve the term to which the Vice Chair had been elected.

        b. If a vacancy occurs in any of the other elected offices, the Chair, with approval of the executive committee, shall fill the vacancy by appointment until the next general election.

ARTICLE V - Meetings

        a. Regular meetings shall be held on a monthly basis. Committee meetings may be held as deemed necessary. If a committee has met separate from the regular monthly meeting, a committee report shall be presented at the next regular monthly meeting. In order to conduct business, 5 members constitute a quorum for voting purposes.

        b. Voting - In order to vote, a member must have attended two monthly meetings in the 6 months prior, with the voting meeting their 3rd meeting attended in that 6 month period. 

ARTICLE VI - Committees

        a. Committees may be created as needed by the executive committee of the Chair. The Chair shall appoint the members and designate the Chair of each committee. The committees shall serve until their charges have been completed and reports have been accepted or until such time as the executive committee designates.

ARTICLE VII - Amendments To The Bylaws    

Bylaws may be adopted, suspended, or amended at any regular monthly meeting of the unit by a majority vote of the members present, provided a quorum is present.
